Fell over near the stove in the kitchen.nBought their farm from George Schmidt at an auction for $3000.00.nPeter Geigel and Christina Kaltenbrun were attendants for John and Mary Geigel's wedding.nJohn Geigel was a cousin of Catherine Schwoerer's mother.nJohn never had a middle name.nHe used to sit on a rocker in the n.e. corner of the kitchen near a big black cast iron range. He worked the land, farming all his life. He also sold "cord wood" from their land. In the 1936 atlas at the library, it is recorded that they owned 200 acres in Manitowoc County. He could never find his birth certificate registered at the court house. This was very common in those days, because of transportation and the language barrior. Records were not required until 1907.nJohn was also a carpenter at home. He built the washstand that stood in their kitchen. He also made tables.
