He went to St. Mary's School in Reedsville, where years later, his children attended the same school. Each winter he was transferred to Grimms Public School. The two schools never went at the same pace - so he had to make an adjustment every year.nnOn March 18, 1938, he was severely injured in an accident on the east end of Reedsville. He was driving a gas truck for the Reedsville Co-op at the time. He had both legs broken and was put in a body cast up to the chest with steel plates in his legs. His daughter, Catherine, used to sit on the cast up on his chest to visit. Dr. Cary and Arnold "Lummie" March, gave Veronica and the four children rides to Manitowoc to visit him in the hospital. He was hospitalized for five months to the day when he finally got to go home. Anne was born while he was there, and he had undergone three surgeries. After he was home two weeks, he had to go back because one leg stiffened up.nn"History of Reedsville Book" has a picture of the Charles C. Vondrachek home when it was a tavern on the north west corner of Manitowoc and 6th Streets. The home is now at 609 Menasha Street, next to St. Mary's Rectory, where the family was always neighbors of the priest.nnCharles wound the church clock for 33 years. In his retirement years, he continued to help out at church, like taking down Christmas trees and distributing missalettes. Charles helped make this family tree possible by helping with the knowledge of his ancestory and interpreting the Bohemian on tombstones, documents, etc.nnCharles C. Vondrachek, age 91, of 609 Menasha St., Reedsville, died Monday,nSeptember 27, 1993, at the North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc.nFuneral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 1993, at St. MarynCatholic Church, Reedsville. Father Nicholas Johannes will officiate withnburial in the parish cemetery.nHe was born January 21, 1902, in the Town of Cato, son of the late Joseph A.nand Alvina Foreyt Vondrachek. He married Veronica Geigel on September 14, 1932,nat Clarks Mills. He was employed by the Reedsville Co-op and then ReinemannElevator in Reedsville until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary CatholicnChurch, Reedsville and was a trustee of the church. He served on the ReedsvillenVillage and School Board. He had the honor of being Grand Marshall of thenReedsville Centennial in 1992.nSurvivors are his wife, Veronica; five daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and JurgennVincent, Mary and Bill Egan, all of Green Bay, Catherine and Don Otte, Town ofnMenasha, Anne Jime Hartnett, of Naperville, Ill., Teresa and Orrin Piepenburg,nReedsville; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerome and Julie, of Brillion,nJames, Manitowoc, Gerald, Milwaukee; 27 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren,nthree sisters, Mary Cherf, Manitowoc, Adeline Lipp, Mercer, Monica Mannino,nThornton, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Rosalie Vondrachek, Hayward.
