a) Ruth A. Welch, age 93, currently residing at St. Mary's Home,
Manitowoc, formerly of Grimms, died peacefully at the home of
her daughter and son-in-law on the morning of Christmas Day,
Thursday, December 25, 1997.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 29,
1997, at St. Patrick St. Mary Catholic Church in Maple Grove.
Rev. Jim Massart will officiate with burial at St. Mary cemetery,
She was born September 30, 1904, in Maple Grove, daughter of the
late William and Margaret (Sullivan) Mullins. She married Thomas
Welch on October 14, 1925, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maple
Grove. Ruth and her husband Thomas farmed in Grimms until their
retirement. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on
October 14, 1975. She was a member of St. Patrick St. Mary Catholic
Church in Maple Grove, a lifetime member of St. Patrick's Altar
Society and the Grimms Helping Hands Homemaker for over 65 years.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in law, one daughter-in-law,
six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; one son, LeRoy;
one son-in-law, Frank Trinka; four sisters; two brothers; other
relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home, Reedsville, from 3-8
p.m. Sunday and on Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until
10:30 a.m. There will be a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Sunday at the
funeral home.
Ruth will be fondly remembered for her "Irish Wit", her Sheepshead
skills and her beautiful crocheting. Ruth aged in a way we wish for
all of us, with dignity and enjoying life to the fullest. Celebrate
her life because she influenced so much of what we are today and
lives on in our memories. We loved her and always will.
The family of Ruth Welch would like to thank the staff and residents
of St. Mary's Home, Center One, for all their love and support
given to mom during the past two and a half years.
