Carl Schweitzer 

Notes:

a) Carl arrived in America February 10, 1858 in New York. Sailed from Havre France on the ship "Admiral". Emigrating with him were his mother, Marie (age 52), and 4 siblings - Ignace (age 24), Mathilde (age 15), Marie (age 12), and Mathias (age 9).nThere is a Carl Schweitzer, age 27, listed in the 1870 census with wife, Gertrude, age 26, born in Baden. Their children are listed as Emma, age 4; Mary, age 8; and John, age 4 months; all born in America. There were eventually 9 children from this first marriage. Gertrude nee Durst, died after childbirth on March 21, 1881. Carl then married Magdaline nee Kruzenski Schroeder, who had been widowed and together they had 5 children from this marriage plus 4 added children from Magdaline's first marriage. Magdaline died March 24, 1892. So his marriage to Anna Peterl (or Bettele, or Beteri) Stahl was his third marriage. They had 2 more children plus the 2 from Anna's first marriage.nnHe was a farmer and a basket weaver. His death certificate says he died of old age. (heart disease). At the time of his death, he lived at what is now 224 West Main St. in St. Nazianz, WI.

b) Anna Peterl is mother of: Sylvia Schweitzer (*1895) and Martha Schweitzer (*1898)
