a) Rudolph J. Tikalsky, 95, of Effingham, died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham, with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Schools or to the donor’s choice. Mr. Tikalsky was born July 8, 1913, in Brillion, Wis., the son of Joseph and Caroline (Vondrachek) Tikalsky. He married Rose M. Meyer on June 22, 1937, and she preceded him in death in 1993. He was a retired owner and operator of Gamble Hardware Store in Mount Morris and a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica, ice fishing, whistling and growing tomatoes in his garden. Mr. Tikalsky is survived by his son, Jerry (wife, Pam) Tikalsky of Waxahachie, Texas; daughters, Adice Forys of Effingham and Joyce (husband, John) Tikalsky-Hallinan of Stoughton, Wis.; grandchildren, Kevin (wife, Shelly) Forys of Greenville, Kathy (husband, Todd) Buenker of Effingham, James (wife, Indira) Tikalsky of Providence, R.I., Anna (husband, Mark) Kossecki of Toronto, Canada, and Daniel (wife, Lulu) Hallinan of Stoughton, Wis; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and three sisters.
